Tone in Tone Circles
On these two paintings Dara gives her use of circles an exciting creative spin. A stream of red circles in varying shades of red emerge out of a background made of the same color. They have the appearance of transparent imprints whose contours are being hinted at by lines in gold and green. The circles look like traces left in a wet field by a mysterious mythical figure nobody has ever seen in person. The meandering, concentrated stream of circles stands in a contrast to Dara’s otherwise eclectic and lively collections of forms and colors and puts the viewers into a contemplative frame of mind.
